Self Defense Moves: A Preview
of Skills to Come

The physical skills and online safety training begin here with Self Defense Moves.

Remember, it is important to review the "Pre-Training Info is 2." Section for the necessary background information to take full advantage of the unique safety training that begins in this starting section.

The below flash sequence is not for entertainment! You are looking at a series of instructional basic self defense moves which this section will begin to explain in detail. If you have reviewed the previous section, you will recognize in the beginning of this flash sequence

The goal is to explain each of the self defense skills and individual techniques, how to safely learn the motor movement, what you can expect (reaction), and how to use props found around your home to help lock the physical skills into your motor memory.

Remember, always avoid physical confrontations whenever possible, and use only enough reasonable force to remove yourself from a dangerous life-threatening situation. Let’s begin.

Ear Slap Strike


An Ear Slap Strike is a surprisingly simple move that can devastate
an attacker.


A SELF DEFENSE PROBLEM from Self Defense Moves: You are being grabbed from the front standing, or from someone seated next to you. The attacker is a lot heavier and stronger than you. Immediately, you feel the threat to your personal safety and want to get away. You need to create an attack on the offender that will generate enough pain to allow you an opportunity to get away safely.

What you need is a basic technique from self defense moves that is both simple and fast to learn, requires a minimum of practice, and will be easy to execute under the stress of an actual assault.

As a parent and self-defense instructor, I asked myself what chance does my child (then 70lbs) have against a 170-pound attacker. This is every parent's nightmare. This is also the premise for the offensive physical skills and strikes being presented here in self defense moves.

ONE POSSIBLE SOLUTION: A surprisingly simple skill that has devastating potential is an Ear Slap Strike. This physical technique has reliable results. It has a lot of shock and pain value, as well as being a well kept secret. You don't need special talents or abilities to use the motor skills you already possess. So this is a great technique in basic self defense moves that is also easy to learn. An Ear Slap Strike can be used while standing, seated in a car, or executed with your back to the ground.

INSTRUCTION GUIDELINES: To learn the ear slap, begin by holding both your hands out in front of you at about face height. Position your hands out flat in a vertical position, as if you were going to begin clapping.

Your left hand will be your target. Space your hands about 8 to 12 inches apart to begin. The object is to clap the right hand to the target (left hand) and generate a loud clapping sound.





Use the trunk of your body and twist in a rocking motion to generate some circular energy into the target. This little whipping motion can add power to the delivery of this strike.

You can learn by using a mirror to monitor yourself as you perform this movement. Keeping your arm, wrist and hand loose and relaxed until you strike the target hand will make executing this physical technique very fast. This will increase your speed while tense muscles will slow down your execution.

With a little practice, you will be able to strike a target in less than half a second!
