Womens Ultimate Hand Strike Basics Self Defense is Palm Heel Training for Women's Self Defense:

A telephone book or something similar that is about 1 1/2 inches in width or greater can be a great training tool to strike at safely using a Palm Heel. You can find training props from around the house for self defense equipment. To begin practicing this self defense move the partner holding the book should have the target well out in front with their arms slightly bent at the elbows to absorb the strike.

I keep my fingers on the target side curled around the telephone book, so there is more target area to strike.

The book absorbs most of the striking power, but it is a good idea to begin by hitting the target/book using only half speed and power.

This will help both you and your partner to adjust to this drill and begin to feel the potential power in this strike.

Targeting and striking the book, after all the previous partner training drills, should not take a lot of time to get comfortable with.

As with all the previous Partner Drills, the secret training routine of striking the target while stationary, and than moving around the room slowly while striking the book will help you both to judge distances and timing with this ultimate basic self defense move.
