Yell and Shout Your Voice
As a Weapon

Women's Self Defense Uses The Ancient Martial Arts Secret...

Yell and Shout Your Voice as a Weapon: A yell serves to focus one’s energy into a strike, and increase the power of your attack. Learn to shout “NO !”

Shouting will temporarily stun the attacker, but only the first time!

The response appears to be universal - the person you yell or shout at is momentarily stunned, and usually blinks as their head moves slightly back.

You will notice by shouting loudly your stomach muscles will tighten, and it will add more power and focus to the strike. It does take practice to learn how to shout/yell and tighten up the abdominal muscles. This is a learned behavior that begins down in the stomach area.

Yell, don't scream in female self defense; screaming comes from the throat and can be mistaken for playful banter. Screaming is also associated with fear. Shouting comes from the diaphragm, the center of a woman's power. It is an empowerment action that attracts attention, and cannot be mistaken for a playful scream.

Yelling in women's self defense also prepares your body to accept a hit, if necessary, without having the wind knocked out of you. A shout can surprise or frighten an attacker away if he fears people will come to help.

A Suggestion: The next time someone cuts you off while driving on a road or the freeway, with your windows up, is a great place to practice a shout.

Statistics show that up to 80% of assault cases, people have escaped serious harm by shouting. If shouting is the best course of action, let everybody know exactly what is happening.

Shouting “Help” or “Fire” may get attention but being specific like ”I’m being attacked, call the police”, may get a better response.

Shouting adds power upon impact when kicking and striking.

Not only does it add more power to your strike, it may also startle your assailant to give you an extra edge. And remember, shouting while striking may not happen automatically.

So, practice a shout during your workout in your Partner Drills when striking a training prop! The power a "yell" provides will make you feel great.

Voice Control

Here is another way from "Yell and Shout Your Voice as a Weapon" to use your voice. Your voice can also be used to possibly calm down an irrational person. If your attacker has a weapon, staying cool and calm may turn the situation around to your advantage.

Coaches in self defense suggest that in female self defense speaking slowly and calmly may convince the assailant that he doesn’t need a weapon. You may also try and keep the attacker talking. If the assailant is talking, chances are he is not attacking. It may be a good time for you to take the offensive. SURPRISE IS ESSENTIAL!

More to come later on the topics of being Assertive, Passive, and Agressive...from Yell and Shout Your Voice as a Weapon.

Self-defense is effective. U.S. Department of Justice statistics show that 67% of the time resistance to criminals is effective. This is a good example where the voice, facial expression and body language are sending the same message!

From Yell and Shout Your Voice as a Weapon: The actual physical techniques that make up the self-defense moves are not difficult to learn, the basic skills are not always instinctive. By familiarizing yourself with a few good simple physical moves, you can help reduce your anxiety over the possibility of an attack and enable yourself to deal with aggression when threatened.
